So, most of you all know about my author journey. Some of you have been following me since all the way back to my Book in a Month Mom blog years. You know I have had several agents, I’ve submitted three novels to Christian publishers, and I’ve finally chosen to go indie with my books.
What happened recently was one of those things I couldn’t see coming. I was contacted via my blog by a movie assistant who asked about the rights to one of my novels.
Since I’m naturally of a dubious nature, I immediately contacted a couple agent friends. One looked up this particular movie site and told me it was, indeed legitimate.
In other words, this was really happening.
Fast forward to yesterday, when I signed a contract with Rebeca Seitz of SON Studios to manage not only this possible movie option, but my writing career–including my indie works. I have been so impressed with Rebeca and her understanding of how creative people “tick.”
All this to say, I wanted to share a press release with you below. The big news I’ve been holding off on sharing–this is it. A possible movie option for one of my novels (not sure if I can say which at this point).
Thing is, I have kind of been telling myself this isn’t real. This isn’t going to pan out. I’ve been rejected many times, more times than I can count. But when I read this press release, it was like a (good) sock in the gut.
There it was, in black and white: “SON is already in negotiations with a long-standing L.A.-based production company to option one of her novels for feature film.”
Read on! And thanks to every one of you who are readers who believe in my writing.
And yes, this is real.
