On Viking Research

Lots of people ask me about how I do research for my Viking novels. I had so much fun guest blogging today over at Redwood’s Medical edge! Please check out this link, which explains how I made one of my Vikings go berserk! Redwood’s Medical Edge: Research Driving You Berserk?: What’s the line between real life and fictional life and… Read More

THOR!

Wow, I am so excited! I just saw two video trailers for the upcoming movie, “Thor.” Now, whether or not this movie turns out to be any good is not what I’m excited about. First, we have some Viking lore making it to the big screen. Second, we have a blonde hero, FINALLY. And third, if I get my book… Read More

Brainstorming

Trying to write historical fiction is a whole different animal than paranormal fiction, I’m finding. It seems like I’m constantly turning up new info I’m wanting to incorporate into my book. And the key is that I have to turn those facts into the actions I know my characters would do. My characters are always the most vivid part of… Read More

The Vikings are Back in TOWN

Hi there everyone! I am deep in the throes of writing my next book, which I have decided will be the Viking book–historical fiction. I love the paranormal idea of Mothman, but I’m thinking it’s easier to kick my “foot in the door” with historical. (And yes, I’ll have to kick the door in, since I’m an unpublished writer.) So… Read More

Another Book-Baby

After pouring my life into my last book, I’ve been slow getting “back on the horse” of writing. No one wants to give birth (even to a book) and have their beautiful, seemingly perfect baby rejected by the big publishers and agents. Unfortunately for me, I now have TWO new books swimming blissfully about in my head at any given… Read More

Happy #WestVirginiaDay! You might know that I love Happy #WestVirginiaDay! You might know that I love setting my contemporary mystery series in my home state of WV. What you might not know is that there was a time I wanted nothing more than to move away and spread my wings (somewhere like NYC! Where I wound up living for a year when I got married!). But years down the road, I felt my mountain roots pulling me back. Suddenly, I could see nothing but beauty in these comforting mountains and moody skies and honeysuckled summers. West Virginia is so many things—good and bad as any state is—but it’s entirely unique. My husband once marveled at how many people ā€œcame backā€ to their home state here, even after being gone for years, and I see that all the time. These #Appalachianmountains have a way about them, and it becomes a part of you, a love you don’t want to let go of. I’m a #mountainmama, and I’m glad to bring this truly #wildandwonderful state to readers with my books.
