Heather Day Gilbert

Author

Coming Clean–My Name is Heather, and I’m a Christian Author…

Hello! I really want to start a new series on my blog, but first wanted to point out something you may not have noticed yet…

I’m a Christian author.

Yes, it’s in my “about me” section and it’s up on my twitter profile. I just started the #Christfic hashtag so we can share tweets w/other Christian fiction authors and readers.

I know some of my readers probably don’t share my beliefs. But I want to be myself as I start this author branding thing, and so that will include, from time to time, some discussions of Christian concepts.

I hope you still follow me and participate in conversations. My writing is truly geared toward both audiences–Christians and non-Christians. I believe my books cover topics that will resonate with both.

However, I want to start a Faith and Family Friday column on my blog. This will cover any number of topics, from things I’ve learned from my kids, to homeschooling, to marriage issues.

I believe strongly in the importance of marriage (if you’re supposed to be married–the Bible says some are not), and my novels will deal with those topics…thus, the Writing Beyond the Vows moniker above.

I won’t start this Friday, but I’m working on something for next Friday! I hope you continue to follow me, but if this makes you cringe, don’t feel like you have to. I don’t follow blogs about zombies or witches for my own reasons. But I love good conversations, and would love to hear your thoughts. You guys are the kindest and most helpful blog readers I’ve ever seen!

So there you have it. My name is Heather, and I’m a Christian author! Join me for some good conversations on marriage, kids and life in general. And you know there will be plenty of writing tips, book discussions, and doubtless some Vikings thrown in there, too!

–Heather

Hi, I’m Heather…

I write contemporary mysteries and Viking historicals. Born and brought up in the mountains of West Virginia, I enjoy writing about small towns, family relationships, and women who aren't afraid to protect those they love. Read More…

Not yet); my first irises of spring; and finally an Etsy decal I’m thinking about getting for my car since I’m such a #tombraider fan and still playing through #TombRaiderRemastered. It’s only an hour from me in #greenbriercountywv. Every year, I love walking around the grounds to see the #tulips—my favorite flower—and this year we caught them at just the right time. If you want to read about it in my books (I do on-the-spot research), check out Undercut and Deadlocked in my #hemlockcreeksuspense series or Fair Trade in my #BarksandBeansCafe #cozymystery series, among others. Setting books in the lovely town of #LewisburgWV is so fun—plenty of great shops and restaurants there, and if you’re ever in town, be sure to drop by The Greenbrier! #authorsofinsta #authorlife #westvirginia #wildandwonderfulwv #wvauthor #appalachianspring #tulips #tulipsofinstagram #tuliplover🌷 #silversisters #marriedloveofmylife❤️ #heatherdaygilbertbooks #mysterylover

But here are some of my own tulips pics and other things I enjoyed this week: 1) got to get #coffee @otterandoakwv cafe with my daughter—always enjoy looking at artwork and the relaxing atmosphere. 2) if you’re from #WestVirginia, you can guess what these are—I cooked some up with fried potatoes this week. Anyone have a favorite ramp recipe to share? 3) my Rembrandt tulips that have candy cane colors, 4) my loud yet loving #flametipsiamese #cat Westley, 5) my grandson’s onesie that cracked me up, 6) more Rembrandt tulips from my #flowerbed.
