Heather Day Gilbert

Author

It’s a New Release in the Barks & Beans Cafe cozy mystery series!

I’m sorry I’m not the best blogger, so this post is late! Although I started out early in the blogging world, I now focus all my writing efforts on writing books for my readers. 🙂

Book 5 in the Barks & Beans Cafe cozy mystery series, TROUBLE BREWING, has now released in softcover and ebook versions! You can also read it (as well as the entire series) in Kindle Unlimited!

TROUBLE BREWING features a mysterious inn, the “Greenbrier ghost” of West Virginia lore, and plenty of autumnal/Halloween activities! Here’s the book blurb:

TROUBLE BREWING:

Convinced that the elderly lady in her care didn’t die of natural causes, Macy’s friend Della determines to look into the broken relationships surrounding the woman. She books a Halloween-themed getaway at a local inn and talks Macy into coming along with her to spy on her prime suspect.

As they join a ghost tour of the candlelit town, Macy and Della feel their guide is a little too fanatical as he shares his spooky tales. He tells the story of the Greenbrier ghost, a newlywed who supposedly came back from the grave to tell her family that her husband murdered her.

When a disturbing apparition makes its presence known, guests at the inn become apprehensive…and for good reason, because soon after, a young bride turns up dead. Although everything points to a copycat killer replicating the historical Greenbrier murder, Macy has her doubts. She’s discovered that the inn harbors secrets of its own, and when she pokes into one darkened corner too many, she might not stand a ghost of a chance.

I also wanted to share that Book 6 in the Barks & Beans Cafe series, COLD DRIP, is now up for Kindle preorder (releasing May 2022). COLD DRIP is set around Thanksgiving and will feature Macy’s boyfriend (I won’t spoil who he is if you haven’t read the previous two books), and a cavern tour gone wrong. You can preorder a Kindle copy here, and a softcover version will be available at this link closer to the release date: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09G94PLYX

You can add COLD DRIP to your Goodreads To-Read list here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58998590-cold-drip

I also wanted to let my Murder in the Mountains series readers know that Book 4, FALSE PRETENSE, is now available for Kindle preorder (releasing March 2022). This last-in-series mystery will once again feature beloved sleuth Tess Spencer…and the West Virginia Mothman legend.

You can preorder your Kindle copy here, and a softcover version will be available at this link closer to the release date: https://www.amazon.com/False-Pretense-Murder-Mountains-Book-ebook/dp/B09HVXCQ17.

You can add FALSE PRETENSE to your Goodreads To-Read lists here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/59242299-false-pretense

ALSO!

If you don’t follow my author Facebook page here, you might not have seen my latest VIKING news! Yes, for those of you who love my Viking historical novels, I have great news! I’ll share it below!

Author Jen Cudmore co-authoring a Viking historical series with Heather Day Gilbert
WoodHaven Press (my small press) is happy to announce another author in its fold! Debut author Jen Cudmore has signed on to co-author a Viking historical series with me, with the first book slated to release in June, 2022.

We cannot wait to share more details about this romantic saga, but if you HAVEN’T already followed my author newsletter, you can sign up for upcoming Viking news at: https://landing.mailerlite.com/webforms/landing/u9b2b4 (no need to do that if you’ve already signed up for my heatherdaygilbert author newsletter since you’d get repeat announcements!).

And now, here’s a little more about Jen!
🙂
Jen’s favorite type of book is a historical. Throw in a clean, sweet romance and she won’t put it down until she reaches the last page! Currently she is working as a manager for a small medical clinic, but she is really looking forward to collaborating on this Viking saga. Jen published a couple western novels and some short stories several years ago, and has blogged for various sites for over a decade. Working on this new project will be a good distraction from her recent empty nest. With her son serving in the Navy and her daughter off to college, Jen is ready for new adventures!

If you want to stay up-to-date on ALL my book news, be sure to sign up for my heatherdaygilbert newsletter here: http://eepurl.com/Q6w6X

I share all kinds of things in my newsletter that I don’t have time to share on this blog (giveaways, book deals, things I’ve been up to), so please be sure to sign up if you want the earliest scoop on my books and more!

Thank you again for your interest in my books!

If you want to read about it in my books (I do on-the-spot research), check out Undercut and Deadlocked in my #hemlockcreeksuspense series or Fair Trade in my #BarksandBeansCafe #cozymystery series, among others.
