POWERLESS in West Virginia!

Hi, my friends! No, I haven’t been avoiding you! We’ve been without power for 10 days now, since the storm (dericho?) hit West Virginia two Fridays ago. I’m on the library computer now, so not much time to post. But I have lots of observations to blog about as soon as my power and internet go back up.

In the meantime, please PRAY for these specific things:

Pray for people who still might not have water–I think there are some.

Pray for the electric workers/tree cutters as they replace/repair downed power lines and trees. The heat has been almost unbearable–upper 90s. Finally getting a bit cooler, thank the Lord.

Pray that as the power goes up, there won’t be fires in the lines. Also that it will stay up, so food won’t go bad in refrigerators as we re-stock.

Thank you all so much. This has been such a trial, but West Virginians are true mountaineers, and we’re surviving together. I just don’t want to think about my 20+ loads of laundry that need to get done once we have hot water! Thank the Lord, we’ve had water all along (city water). But those on wells don’t have water until the electric is on for the pumps.

Who knew when my last post was about the CO fires, we’d be experiencing our own natural disaster that very week? But God has protected everyone in miraculous ways. There’s a house we pass by that had a huge tree fall on both sides of it, but nothing hit the house. We lost a couple trees, but nothing hit the house. Also was able to get everyone inside before the storm hit. We really had NO WARNING.

Many thanks for your prayers! Will blog as soon as I can!

–Heather

Storms like that are so scary; I'll definitely be praying.Last summer a hurricane hit here in CT that left most of the state without power for a couple weeks. We only had well water, so we stayed with my parents in the city.

Heather–I feel for you! My family was out for anywhere from 2 to 9 days. NO fun. But it's wonderful to hear the stories of folks pulling together and making the most of a tough situation. We'll keep the prayers coming!

We just got power tonight, thank the Lord! I'm glad to know WV wasn't the only place in the USA that's been out of power for sooo long at a time, Faith! Will blog about this very soon!

That's a long time with no power. Glad it's back up. In Alaska, we had a generator. We had wood heat and a an oil drip stove, so we were fine there, but we needed the generator for our well pump and to run our fridge every day. Our electricity went our every year for a few days. Hope all is getting back to normal and you're finding your way out from under all that laundry. 🙂

It’s only an hour from me in #greenbriercountywv. Every year, I love walking around the grounds to see the #tulips—my favorite flower—and this year we caught them at just the right time. If you want to read about it in my books (I do on-the-spot research), check out Undercut and Deadlocked in my #hemlockcreeksuspense series or Fair Trade in my #BarksandBeansCafe #cozymystery series, among others.
