Hello readers! I wanted to share a couple of updates and talk books a bit!
First of all, there’s a Goodreads softcover giveaway of my upcoming second-in-series mystery, Belinda Blake and the Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing. You can find that here: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/296005-belinda-blake-and-the-wolf-in-sheep-s-clothing
Secondly, if you’re active on NetGalley, you can now request an early reader e-copy of Belinda Blake and the Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing. Here’s the link for that: https://www.netgalley.com/catalog/book/171476
Those of you who’ve read my Vikings of the New World Saga books will enjoy that there are numerous references to Viking names in Belinda Blake #2, but I won’t tell you HOW those were integrated. 😉 Had to give a nod to ye olde Viking heritage, eh?
I also wanted to let you know that right now, the PREORDER Kindle copy of this upcoming release is only $3.82, but when it releases, the price will go up to $4.99 or $5.99, I’m not sure which. So if you want to pick it up at a steal (coffee drinks cost more than this!), I’d grab it now and it’ll show up on your Kindle on release day, which is October 1, 2019. Pick it up here: https://amzn.to/2KrV19M
In other news, I just turned in edits for book 3 in the Exotic Pet-Sitter series, Belinda Blake and the Birds of a Feather. I can’t say much, but this may be one of my favorite books I’ve ever written, y’all. You can find all the buy links for that here: https://www.kensingtonbooks.com/book.aspx/39225
And now, let’s talk books a little bit, since it was recently National Book Lover’s Day. What’s your ONE FAVE BOOK of 2019 thus far? That’s a toughie for me! One that has really stuck with me is All Manner of Things by Susie Finkbeiner, because it was set in the era of my birth. 🙂 It’s a tear-jerker, but I really loved that it felt so realistic.
Another one I read and had mixed feelings about was Where’d You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple. *Note, this was not a clean read.* You can find my review on that here, where I did wind up giving it 5 stars: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13526165-where-d-you-go-bernadette. I really wasn’t sure if I should stick with it, but when I did, I enjoyed the wrap-up and I’m looking forward to the movie version.
I’ve also been reading mysteries since that’s what I’m writing. Here are a few I’ve read and enjoyed lately:
Fire Storm by Nancy Mehl *I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first-in-series, but it was still difficult to figure out whodunit, and romance was minimal, which I appreciate.*
Crocodile on the Sand Bank by Elizabeth Peters *Note: not a traditional mystery in that there wasn’t a key element I was expecting…*
Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear *This is a series I’ll be reading more of, for sure.*
Find my reviews on those clean mysteries and other books on Goodreads here.
Speaking of reviews, if you read and enjoyed Miranda Warning, I would so appreciate if you’d leave a review on Goodreads here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27838009-miranda-warning. For the first time since its release in 2014, the book has fallen below a 4.0 rating on Goodreads. I know this is because the e-book version is permanently free on all platforms, and many pick it up not knowing (or caring) what genre it is, etc. But I’d love to pull that rating up, if possible, because I know that once a book rating starts spiraling downward, it reaches a point where it takes TONS of good reviews to pull it up again, even if it has many 5-star reviews. Thank you!
Finally, if you haven’t signed up for my author newsletter yet, you might want to do so, because that is the first place I share about book cover news, giveaways, and much more. Here’s the link to do that: http://eepurl.com/Q6w6X.
Hope you are all having a wonderful summer! We’ll have THREE in college this fall, so I haven’t even been writing this summer. I’m hoping to get back in the groove this fall.
