The (Not So) Lazy Days of Summer

Just figured I should check in with a blogpost since it’s been AGES! I am looking forward to being able to share more with you about my upcoming cozy mystery series that will be releasing starting in June 2019, but in the meantime, I’ve been working hard to finish the first three books in it.

Summer hasn’t been slow for me–in fact, I don’t think I’ve slowed down at all yet. I was really honored to be able to be a workshop presenter and to participate in a publishing workshop at the West Virginia Writers Conference early this June. I had a fantastic time. One of my author friends I was pleased to meet face to face (after years of knowing each other online) was Brandy Vallance. You should check out Within the Veil, her gorgeous tale set in Scotland!

I haven’t been able to read much–but I’ve mostly been reading cozy mysteries to get a feel for what I need to bring to my upcoming series. I was pleased to receive an early reader copy of Joanne Bischof’s Sons of Blackbird Mountain, which releases July third! I’m also looking forward to reading Jaime Jo Wright’s The Reckoning at Gossamer Pond and Joanna Davidson Politano’s A Rumored Fortune.

My handsome redheaded husband just took me on a picnic date up on the mountain. We had a lovely time, despite a few annoying bugs! We’ve been married for 21 years now and it just keeps getting better, folks. 🙂

So as I go on writing this summer, I’d love to know what you are reading lately! Do you have any cozy mystery series you love?

Finally, for all my readers out there–all my book series are now in Kindle Unlimited. That means if you have Kindle Unlimited, you can read through them all for free! You can find all my books here.

And please be sure to leave reviews when you read! I read all my reviews (for better or for worse! 😉 )

Have a wonderful summer, my friends!

-Heather

Happy #WestVirginiaDay! You might know that I love Happy #WestVirginiaDay! You might know that I love setting my contemporary mystery series in my home state of WV. What you might not know is that there was a time I wanted nothing more than to move away and spread my wings (somewhere like NYC! Where I wound up living for a year when I got married!). But years down the road, I felt my mountain roots pulling me back. Suddenly, I could see nothing but beauty in these comforting mountains and moody skies and honeysuckled summers. West Virginia is so many things—good and bad as any state is—but it’s entirely unique. My husband once marveled at how many people “came back” to their home state here, even after being gone for years, and I see that all the time. These #Appalachianmountains have a way about them, and it becomes a part of you, a love you don’t want to let go of. I’m a #mountainmama, and I’m glad to bring this truly #wildandwonderful state to readers with my books.
